Déclinée à l’époque, l’offre sera retournée par le destinataire, qui aura composé entre-temps cinq tableaux, avec en tête l’idée de leur adjoindre les pigments, matières et gestes avec lesquels le trio américain a bâti sa réputation déflagrante. L’album fait surgir un adjectif que l’on n’aurait jamais imaginé utiliser pour qualifier un album d’Aphex Twin : banal. Ou convenu, bref, pas à la hauteur des promesses ni des fantasmes, pas digne en tout cas d’une aussi longue attente. Lire la chronique

Et même un concept nommé “Reickuti”, soit une rencontre entre la musique répétitive de Steve Reich et le groove endurant et hypnotique de Fela Kuti. Deerhoof

La Isla Bonita

Le titre de cet album de Deerhoof est presque aussi parfait que les chansons déstructurées qui le composent : Paradise Girl, Mirror Monster, Doom, Last Fad, Tiny Bubbles, Oh Bummer… Les douze morceaux défoncent. Et ce groupe originaire de San Francisco réussit à chaque fois d’improbables liaisons entre pop et indie, charme et effroi, solitude de fin de soirée et réveil porno du matin. Qui est chaud pour offrir cet album à Madonna ?

Avec son nom de cibiste dans Mad Max, Jessica93 fait beaucoup de mal au rock français – qui s’en tord de plaisir, en spasmes attendus depuis Diabologum et quelques autres forcenés du riff en rase-mottes, à hauteur de rangers, là où le moral marine dans les chaussettes. Tout petit déjà, dans son New Jersey natal, il amusait ses parents en mimant la musique sur la guitare à une corde de sa maman, qu’il avait trouvée à la cave (la guitare, pas sa maman). Il y a deux ans et demi, Bosco Delrey s’est installé à Paris pour suivre sa copine. C’est là qu’il a enregistré les quatre chansons de l’ep The Holed Up, et celles de son deuxième album.
