Depuis l’annonce de la mort de l’immense Scott Walker, les hommages à cette figure de la pop s’enchainent.
Scott Walker aura marqué ces 50 dernières années de son génie créatif. D’abord dans The Walker Brothers, puis surtout en solo, il aura laissé son style influencer la carrière de nombreux de ses contemporains. Depuis l’annonce de sa disparition, les hommages s’enchaînent, confirmant son importance dans l’histoire musicale.

Une pluie d’hommages
Parmi les premiers hommages rendus à Walker, celui de Thom Yorke était évidemment attendu. Celui qui, en compagnie du reste de Radiohead, avait baptisé Creep : « notre chanson à la Scott Walker » a écrit sur Twitter : « Je suis tellement triste d’apprendre la mort de Scott Walker, il a eu une immense influence sur Radiohead et moi. Il m’a montré comment utiliser ma voix et mes mots. »
Natasha Khan de Bat For Lashes a elle aussi rendu hommage au musicien décédé dans un communiqué qu’elle a partagé avec Pitchfork. Elle y raconte leur collaboration pour la chanson The Big Sleep : « J’étais extrêmement nerveuse à l’idée de lui écrire pour l’inviter à chanter une de mes chansons tellement je le considérais comme une légende, et tellement il est connu pour être solitaire. » Avant de rajouter : « Quand j’ai entendu ce qu’il a fait de ma chanson, j’avais du mal à croire toute la fragilité et la beauté qu’il avait mises dans sa voix. Cela faisait des années que je l’écoutais chanter de cette manière old-school, et voilà que sa grandeur hypnotisante et fantomatique s’est retrouvée sur ma chanson. »

So very sad to hear about Scott Walker…. truly one of the greats.. so unique and a real artist. On my way to work on the first day of recording OK Computer I passed him riding his bike on Chiswick High Street.. and when I got to the studio Thom was holding a copy of Scott 4..
